The poet I am introducing in this article left this world in a hurry, in an auto accident at an age of 30. Tripuraneni Srinivas hails from a family of well renowned literateurs. During his tenure in various editorial capacities at leading Telugu papers and mags, Srinivas spared no efforts in bringing out new voices in Telugu literature. Telugu literary world lost a great friend and suppoter in his death. Without further ado, I present you ..

"Poetry Needed, Poetry" Tripuraneni Srinivas
Poetry needed, Poetry Which gushes, full through each letter Poetry needed, Poetry.
Write on people. Write on the hapless stories of these people. Write poetry which penetrates, from the paper, through the eye, through the spine and into a gun, write (such) poetry. Just as a line is read, The enemy should bolt away in panic, (Even) an innocent should roar, like a weapon. Poetry is different from prose. By writing simple, straight, wimpy sentence, don't pass it off as poetry. Don't deceive poetry. (If you do,) you'll float away as prose.
Poetry needed, Poetry Which is lush, full in each letter Poetry needed, Poetry.
It is not poetry which has footnotes. The letter is explanation enough unto itself, what need for annotation? It is not poetry, enclosed in paranthesis Empathy is the natural reaction to sympathy, what need for paranthesis? Right there, (it should) tear open his heart and clear away the cobwebs. It should be resolute, it should explode like a gun. This poetry, it should attack. By raining heaps of worthless words, don't hoodwink that it is poetry. Don't deceive poetry. (If you do,) you'll be worn out as prose.
Poetry needed, Poetry Which buzzes and hums, full in each letter Poetry needed, Poetry
Don't excavate the valleys of memory Don't repent (We) Don't want extended sentences of sympathy nor the pity filled, weepy faced dramatics. On his chest, confidently inscribe (just) two beliefs. Make him a warrior, with courage and valor. As poetry, stand guard over him. Upon dropping baskets of trashy words, don't bray that it is poetry. Don't deceive poetry. (If you do,) you'll be reborn as prose.
Poetry needed, Poetry Which is lustrous, full in each letter Poetry needed, Poetry
